Work With Me! Nutrition Counseling
As a Registered Dietitian, I’m very passionate about de-stigmatizing foods and taking the fear away from foods. I love helping women rekindle their relationship with food and learn to enjoy food again. Many of us have lost that innate mind-body connection and we’re searching for the next diet or next best thing to get that back. Food shouldn’t be complicated. It is just that – food. A kale salad can be just as nourishing as a slice of cake with your family. I aim to decrease the food guilt and help you find your happy relationship with food and yourself. You can read more about my nutrition and health beliefs here.
I earned my Master’s in Public Health and Nutrition from UNC Chapel Hill. My specialties are women’s health, sports nutrition, intuitive eating, general nutrition counseling and corporate wellness. I also offer a free 15 minute phone consultation before we start working together to answer any questions you may have and see if we’re a fit for one another.
Conveniently, I see clients both in person and virtually, if you’re not in the Charlotte area.

“I reached out to Sarah for help losing weight. Before meeting with her, I knew that I was an emotional and stress eater, but I thought I just needed help tweaking things to control the amount of food I was eating. Sarah didn’t try to talk me out of my weight loss goal, but she was determined to help me to better understand what was going on beneath the surface. She asked questions, listened carefully and helped me more clearly articulate the thoughts running through my head. Initially, I wasn’t sure this intuitive eating concept would work. It sounded nice in theory but it had been so long since I’ve had a normal relationship with food, I wasn’t sure if I could change my mindset.
Sarah was patient and never judgmental, making working with her extremely easy. Each time we met, Sarah gave me a new technique to put into practice to help me reframe my prior negative thoughts about food and my eating habits. Over time, it became easier to tune into my body. I’ve learned to eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full, and make more balanced choices when traveling, which was always tough for me.
Sarah was able to help me think about food differently, and focus on other ways to take care of myself. I’ve seen improvements in many aspects of my life, not just my eating habits. Sarah was professional, kind and considerate throughout our interactions. She was willing to work with my schedule and held both virtual and in person meetings with me. She was prepared and sent up follow up items we discussed right after our meetings. You can tell she enjoys working with her clients and is genuinely happy to see you progress and reach your goals.”
“I contacted Sarah after seeing that she was an avid runner and also a non-diet dietitian. As a runner myself, I was concerned when I was no longer getting my period. I felt like I lived in a world consumed by calorie counting and over-exercising. I wanted to be healthy and not feel trapped in a world of dieting, yet also learn how to fuel my body properly. This was especially important because I have a little daughter and I did not want to pass on my complicated relationship with food to her. I needed to learn how to trust my body and treat it accordingly. I had no idea where to even start, and that is when I found Sarah.
Working with Sarah went well beyond the food I was eating. She really encouraged me to look deep and challenge the thoughts that were holding me back from food freedom. Did my fears generated by diet culture really outweigh my goals of a healthy relationship with food and my body? She challenged me to look deep and discover myself as so much more than a body or a runner. She always reminded me that I am a mom, a wife, a friend, and dog lover. Sarah helped me realize I deserve to eat without guilt and fear!
Sarah is very knowledgeable, and I could tell that in between sessions she was doing extra research specific to my situation and finding me additional supports so that I could really understand my body and my mind. She read all of my rambling anxiety ridden emails, allowed me to vent to her as I worked through years of disordered eating, laughed and celebrated even the smallest successes, and was just over all a cheerleader. Discovering intuitive eating and body peace is such a deep personal journey and Sarah held my hand every uncomfortable worthwhile step of the way. She will get you out of your comfort zone in the most comfortable way.
My journey has shown me that so many struggle with their body and food, and too many women find themselves sacrificing their health to obtain some “ideal”. If you have lost your period, found yourself obsessed with every bit of food you eat, or are constantly obsessed with when and what your next meal will be, there is help, and Sarah is someone you want on your team! Sarah showed me that I could listen to my hunger, honor my fullness, and love and cherish the strong beautiful body I have no matter the size. She taught me how to enjoy a cookie (or two!) with my daughter, how to relax over a romantic dinner with my husband, and that all food is good food and that one should eat that dessert whenever they want to!”
“After graduating college and not being involved in competitive team sports anymore, I gained a little weight. I tried for a year or two to lose the extra 10-15 pounds on my own – listening to apps such as My Fitness Pal or the newest thing I found on an internet search. I was down about it. Finally I found out about Sarah. Sarah spent a while listening to my struggles and educated me on what my body needs. While I thought I was eating “healthy” for a while, I found out that other plans I found were actually having me under eat based on my metabolism and activity level, which was why I could not lose the weight on my own.
What I loved about Sarah and her plan is that I never felt restricted or that I was “on a diet.” She never said “don’t eat this or don’t eat that.” With Sarah, it is more about discovering a healthy lifestyle balance and a healthy relationship with food. After working with Sarah, I feel like I eat more food than before, but I feel toned and healthier than ever! Sarah is also amazing at always being a resource and quick to answer with any questions! I can’t thank her enough!”
