Good morning! I’m linking up with Amanda today for Thinking Out Loud!
I have this life long goal of hosting the most amazing dinner party. Have I told you about this? It’s definitely on my life bucket list and life goals sheet.
But not just any dinner party. One that people talk about for years. It’s not the ideal time for me just yet, but maybe in the next year or two. Don’t worry – I’ll most definitely write about it on the blog when I do.
So, what does this dream dinner party consist of, you ask?
Well, I have a whole Pinterest board of inspiration ideas. Ideally, I would love for it to be outside on the deck or in the yard, with some light James Taylor music playing in the background, lights hanging above, good wine flowing, and endless conversation and laughs.
Any of these set ups will do…
As fun as I think it would be to do a murder mystery themed dinner party, I’m pretty sure mine would be more casual and low key. And I’m pretty sure I’d go with the rustic theme. And I’m pretty sure I would serve alot of wine.
There would be separate setups for smaller bites, cheeses and other appetizers. For the bigger bites, I envision some cheese stuffed bread, vegetable kabobs, perhaps a lemon chicken dish over rice or quinoa, stuffed mushrooms, grilled asparagus, watermelon salad, cupcakes and lots of fruity desserts.
If I’m really feeling like the hostest with the mostest, I would have a smores bar, because, s’mores. And summer.
As you can see, this is a vivid dream I have. I could probably go on and on about this dinner. The question therein lies where do I find all of these awesome props and entertaining solutions?
Since we are moving soon and I will have more kitchen space (SO EXCITED!), I have been searching online for some kitchen tools and decorations and entertaining products, perhaps some that can be utilized for this future dinner party.
So when Uncommon Goods reached out to me to pick out a few items to review, it couldn’t have been better timing! I had actually been searching their site a few weeks earlier for a friend’s birthday gift. They have the most unique, hand crafted items that are perfect for entertaining. And the best part is that each item tells a story and offers a little flare that you wouldn’t necessarily find at Target, Bed Bath and Beyond or Macy’s.
And with Father’s Day coming up, if you’re running out of gift ideas, they may have the perfect gift!
If you’ve ever browsed their site, you can see why it’s such a conundrum in deciding what to order. They have so many cute and functional options for nearly every occasion that are hand crafted. They also have unique jewelry, designer decor, and tabletop items. One of my favorite things about the company is that over half of the items on Uncommon Goods are made by hand and one third of the items feature recycled or upcycled materials. You know that when you shop on Uncommon Goods, you’re helping to support creative artists and designers. Each product includes a story behind it and its maker, and there are many different items you can have personalized as well.
As soon as I saw this cheese board, I knew I had to have it. You can order in the shape of any state (I got North Carolina). It was hand crafted in Colorado, and the picture on the website shows you can even use chalk on the board to label things! Maybe I’ll get that fancy at our dinner party. Until then, I love using it with small bites to spice up happy hour on our porch.
And what’s a dinner party without wine? Ed’s cousin, who lives in Napa Valley, was kind enough to send us a few bottles of wine from Shadow Box Cellars as a wedding gift. I’ve been searching on and on for a unique wine rack for some of these bottles for months, and never quite found the perfect one. In just a few minutes on Uncommon Goods, I saw this.
This wine rack sparked my eye immediately because it’s completely convertible! You can use it to transport one bottle vertically, hold 3 bottles sideways, or even to organize bottles on top of each other. I love this for its functionality, but also that it’s crafted from pine wood, and can hold from 3 up to 12 bottles! Such a nifty little guy, and I may or may not have spent 15 minutes trying to figure out it’s different shapes.
I also ordered the mango wooden platter, and have loved using it as a fruit/veggie tray. I even envision using it for cheese and crackers for entertaining. It’s a beautiful piece of wood that I think would be great on its own for a center piece on one of the extravagant table settings I mentioned above. It definitely has that rustic look and feel to it and would fit any “farm to table” themed party.
I love the option of removing the wooden shovel handle, too.
Since my dad is a huge golfer, I couldn’t resist buying this cute golfer’s BBQ set. I know he will love it and it’s the perfect Father’s Day gift for him! You can check out more unique Father’s Day Gift ideas here.
And now, Uncommon Goods would also like to offer a lucky BLT reader a $25.00 gift certificate! You can enter below!
