To my surprise, you guys, it looks like I haven’t yet done a bucket list check in this year. My blog tells me my last ones were here (30 for 30), here (last spring), and here (my word for 2016).
So, here we are checking in on past bucket lists and making additions and modifications as necessary. Bucket lists are kind of my jam. I think they are great for goal setting, but also FUN stuff. My bucket lists may be a little different than others.
I have local bucket lists of places I want to eat, bucket lists of things I want to do and achieve, and obviously, places I want to go. The whole premise of starting this blog was that life is FUN and wanting to document it.
Here’s a look back at my bucket list from last summer.
1. Run a marathon (DONE) – Savannah Marathon, Ogden Marathon Recap and Detroit Marathon Recap
2. Start my own Private Practice – Sort of in the process of doing so! I currently do see clients in the Charlotte area and VIRTUALLY! I’m working on making a more official site, so look for that in the coming months.
3. Go sky diving
4. Hike part of the Appalachian Trail
5. Go on a 50 mile bike ride
6. Host an epic dinner party – I’ve been to some, but haven’t hosted yet!
7. Start a garden
8. Try cross country skiing
9. Do a sprint triathalon
10. Brew my own kombucha – This has been on my mind lately, but still haven’t tried it
11. Stay in a bed and breakfast in Maine and explore Acadia National Park
12. Take a hot air balloon ride (over somewhere pretty, like here)
13. Drive across the country
14. Make pasta from scratch. Gotta do it once, right?
15. Go deep sea fishing
16. Have kids – Coming April 2018
17. Make my own sushi
18. Adopt a rescue dog – She wasn’t exactly a rescue dog, but we have Tater! I can’t believe how little she once was.
19. Food tour in Charlotte (crazy to think I haven’t done this yet)
20. Visit Alaska, Bora Bora, New Zealond, Switzerland, Ireland, Greece (and many more) – Going to South Africa later this month – South Africa Safari Recap Part 1 and Recap Part 2
21. Do a marathon in another country (perhaps this one).
22. Visit a farm and interview a farmer (hope to do this for the blog soon!) – Yes! Here and Here
23. Say YES for an entire week (Isn’t this a challenge, but fun to think about?)
24. Go sailing
25. Improve my photography – I think it’s coming along. Practice, practice! Still have a ways to go.
26. Take a cooking class – I took a Sur la Table cooking class, but hope to do another!
27. Learn more about wine
28. Reteach myself to play the piano
29. Be a mentor to someone
30. See the Northern Lights
So, I’d say I’m doing okay. Still a lot left to do and accomplish, which is exciting to me. Although, as the family expands, I realize some of these goals may take longer than anticipated. Here’s an updated fall/winter bucket list.
Fall and Winter 2017 Bucket List

Support Bucket List TummyHow does Tater keep getting cuter?!?! That photo
She’s such an excited puppy, always!
Why in the world didn’t I have a bucket list for this year? Especially sharing it on the blog and creating accountability that way is such a good idea. Noted for 2018 then!
Given a lot of these goals were ambitious and/or time-intense, I think it’s totally fine you didn’t accomplish all of them and the ones you did were great already.
I think part of the fun of having a bucket list is it’s always changing, things being on there that you’ll always be working towards. π
What a fun bucket list! Love your travel destination dreams!!! I can’t wait to go to Africa.
Are you going soon??
Yaaaay lists!! I love the excitement of the open boxes as much as the check marks π
YES…the anticipation!
Great job on your goals so far! I’d love to do a lot of the things on your list (hiking the AT, starting a garden, making my own pasta, going to Acadia National Park, adopting a rescue dog…). Great minds think alike!? π
P.S. Tater is adorable! <3 I love that name too, haha.
Maybe our paths will cross at some point π
I LOVE your bucket list!! I’m not great at coming up with my own on the spot but sometimes will add to one over time. I may have to steal a few of your bucket list items to add to mine!! And I love the idea of doing a seasonal one, too. So fun!
They really are fun to make and accomplish π
Love this! I love lists but haven’t really done a bucket list… usually it’s goals and to do lists. you’ve done a lot!!
For kombucha, I have a baby scoby I would happily share if you lived nearby. π
I wish I did, I’d totally take you up on that!
I love making bucket lists and I loved what was on your bucket list! For fall I want to do a turkey trot (If my injury is better enough so I can push myself) & for winter, I want to go see the christmas tree lighting in NYC!
Turkey trots are my favorite! Christmas tree in NYC is definite a bucket list item. π
I love seeing what’s on people’s bucket list so that it gives me new ideas for mine! Not sure if you would be interested, but there are some ice cream recipes that don’t require an ice cream maker.
Yes, if you have some you’d recommend, I’d love to try! Thank you π
I love how enthusiastic you are about continuing your bucket list, and I would actually say you have been a mentor to me and to others via your blog with the wisdom you’ve shared about food, nutrition, running, and sooo much more.
When you get to go skydiving you WILL LOVE IT! π And I’m so excited you’re going to South Africa. I’ve heard tremendously amazing things about it. We were just at someone’s house last week in SC that knows a missionary family in South Africa.
Awww, that means so much to me, Emily. Skydiving someday, haha. I am afraid of heights so that’s a stretch one but feel like it would be exhilerating.
I literally love bucket lists! And I made a Fall one and feel like i’ve only done one thing on it. You reminded me I need to do a check in!
I love them too! So much fun.
I need a bucket list !!!! Such a great idea !!!! Thanks for sharing π
It makes life fun, in my opinion π
Love this! I need to revisit my fall bucket list and see how I am doing. I do not have an ice cream maker, but have been thinking more about getting one, I think it would be fun to do with the kids.
Absolutely – It’s been one my list for a while!
I love the idea of a bucket list! Yours is so varied I love it
Thank you – they are fun to make and accomplish!
